Description

This program is an overview of the federal health insurance portability and accountability act of 1995 referred to as HIPAA and it has two modules. Module-1 or the Federal HIPAA applies to practices of dentistry nationwide and includes the overview of HIPAA, the Privacy Rule, the Security Rule, the HITECH act, and the Breach Notification Rule. This training is a must for all dental practices in the US.
In addition to the training in Federal HIPAA, all dental practices in the State of Texas must be trained in Texas House Bill 300 and its amendments. HIPAA protects patients? protected information with respect to use and misuse. In these modules we address the types of information breaches, costs of protecting information and fines, and we also provide published examples of fines.
Protected health information is any information that can be linked to identifying a specific patient with the help of identifiers. Care providers must have agreements with both covered entities and business
